For one day, Wisconsin drivers get to see the people who object to being
photographed, logged, and stored every time they leave the driveway.
Flock cameras read your license plate, record where you were and when, and hold it
in a searchable database. Nobody voted on that. On September 15 we stand on the public
right-of-way beside those cameras during both commutes — signs up, entirely peaceful,
entirely legal — so every driver who passes knows exactly what is watching them.
The Shifts
The heaviest traffic of the day. Highest visibility, and the shift we most need bodies for.
Drive-time radio and the news cycle both land here. Best shift for press coverage.
Sign up for a camera
Takes about a minute. You’ll get your assigned location a few days beforehand.
What Your Sign Says
“NO ONE VOTED FOR THIS.”
The headline sign. Big letters, short words, readable at 45 mph.
“This camera knows where you were Tuesday.”
Ground Rules
- Public property only. Sidewalk, terrace, or public right-of-way. Never private lots, never a business entrance.
- Never touch the equipment. Do not cover, block, obstruct, or lay a hand on any camera or pole. That is the whole ballgame — it turns a lawful protest into a crime.
- Keep traffic moving. Do not step into the roadway, block a driveway, or obstruct the sidewalk.
- Be pleasant. Wave. Smile. The cameras are not your neighbours’ fault, and friendly people are far more persuasive than angry ones.
- Comply with law enforcement. If an officer asks you to move, move — then call (phone number will be sent out closer to the date) me.
- Film your own participation. Video protects you and it is the best thing you can send me afterward.
Fund the reporting
The surveillance mapping, the records requests, and the fees agencies charge for public
information are all paid for by readers. No ads, no paywall, no corporate owner.
