Why I built this

I sit on the Trempealeau County Board. Before that I spent a decade in Washington as a Congressional chief of staff.

Those jobs taught me the same lesson from opposite ends: the decisions that affect your life are usually happening locally — in county boards, city councils, village boards, town halls and school districts.

The meetings are public. The agendas are posted. But following hundreds of government websites every day is nearly impossible.

Open records don't matter much if nobody has time to open them.

So I built a system that watches them for you. Every morning it looks for new agendas, meetings and public records and puts what matters into the briefing — with a link back to the original source.
