OPINION: La Crosse Common Council Needs a 12-Step Program for Their Spending Addiction

|March 12, 2026|Andy Parrish|Source: www.wizmnews.com

As I see it, I’m Andy Parrish. The La Crosse Common Council does not need a larger budget. What they do need is a 12-step program to curb their addiction to spending your money.

First, it was those small business killing bike lanes that absolutely nobody wants and removes parking spaces and makes it much more difficult for customers to even reach the downtown businesses.

But apparently, that wasn’t enough. Now they want to spend another $120,000 of your hard-earned dollars to beautify those streets.

Look, we all want a good-looking city. But when families across La Crosse are sitting at kitchen tables and tightening their belts, local businesses are fighting to stay alive, city hall should not be acting like they have a credit card with no limit.

It’s a pattern we’ve seen before, though, when the council runs out of real solutions or things to do. They fall back on the only thing they know how to do well. Reach into your pocket and spend more of your money.

As I see it, I’m Andy Parrish.
